ANOTHER FLAWED MEISTERWERK FROM ARONOFSKY.
Brian from Kerry, 24 May 2011
A frail, obsessive ballerina is given her 'shot at the title'. But can she dance Tchaikovsky's Black Swan as well as she dances his White? Thus begins her journey into the heart of darkness. An occasionally superb study in hysteria, worthy of Hitchcock, but increasingly in danger of straying into M. Night Shyamalan territory. The blurring of reality and fantasy is crucial to the process, but Aronofsky over-uses it to a point that makes everything just too convenient for its own good. This is the man behind the Crystal Maze brilliance of Pi and the ringmasterly tearjerker The Wrestler. But beware! He's also the brains behind the over-ambitious and under-achieving The Fountain. Black Swan is definitely worth seeing, if only for the thrills alone, but ultimately it's undeserving of the Oscar hype. Natalie Portman, however, is wonderful from beginning to end.

Good psychological thriller
Sebastien from Dublin, 19 Mar 2012
It's a good psychological thriller BUT they spoil it with too many hints at the beginning even though then they make up with fantastic interpretations by Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis and cameo roles by Wynona Ryder and Vincent Cassel. It's not what it looks like by watching the trailer. Photography is amazing. Natalie Portman is the movie itself, she really deserved that Oscar. Altogether a good movie. (PS my girlfriend found some scenes a little bit disturbing.)
If I Saw it I liked it. But I'm not sure
Seamus from Monaghan, 05 Sep 2011
There are so many twists turns and things happening in poor Natalie's head that I'm not sure if I saw this film. Things happen and then we discover that she imagined it. Things don't happen but we see them. Maybe it was too late at night but I found it hard work.
What was all the hype about
Louise from Offaly, 07 Feb 2012
Just finished watching this movie but was tempted to turn it off half way through. Found it a bit dark and depressing. I am not too sure what all the hype was all about. Would not recommend it.
