Dear God !!! what was that all about

An american with a very bad Irish accent, an Irish man with a very bad american accent - grey deary existence - dear God it was painful to watch. Sorry line very poor - don't really know what happened at end. Wouldn't be rushing to recommend it. 2 out of ten if only for the scene where he dumps the dog
Black Irish

Brendan Gleeson is as always superb but the movie is a bit too clichéd and too many stereotypes for my taste.
The violent angry Irish father, the put upon, sacrisfying mother, disfunctional son & pregnant daughter ... seen it way too many times.
Watchable but

Nice movie for the family night in, not to much violence but lacked conviction and yes every family member had to confront their own moral code in the meaning to their existence. Shame about the ending ell flat.
Engaging

This was an engaging movie - quite dark, gives a realistic portrayal of a south boston Irish family.
At time violent and at times flat it doesn't fail to entertain
Slow but watchable

This was a very slow movie and the best thing in it is Brendan Gleeson. A poor version the Brothers McMullen but even though it drags its heels the story is good.
