Poor acting and screenplay. Disappointing

One of the worst films I have ever seen. The screenplay and acting were so atrocious that I stopped watching after about 45 minutes. The mixture of Irish accents was particularly poor. None of the accents was authentic and and they were all different. Things may have improved, but there's no telling, as I couldn't bear to watch any more. Admittedly the costumes were lavish (I'm not sure what Ryan O'Neal had down his trousers) and the scenes suitably pastoral, but could not make up for the rest.

Visually stunning movie. Costumes, sets, make-up, script are all top-drawer. Highly watchable. My only gripes would be that the story itself falls flat towards the end and is a bit of an anti-climax. And the choice of Ryan O'Neil in the lead role was a bad call. He couldn't act to save his life.
Period Drama's Suck but this was class

I never heard of this movie but I would have to say it has it all un-requited love, financial ruin, adventure, arrival ruin again and the loss of a leg all in all a good commentary on any outsiders motives, expectations and losing it all. Amadeus is also a good period drama

A classic. Looks beautiful, as you'd expect from kubrick.
