Just OK

Expected something good from the director of Cinema Paradiso but this is a bit of a let down. Of course everything looks beautiful (the places, the people) and it has the obligatory coming of age stuff etc etc but it just feels disjointed. Just a series of scenes with no great connection or sympathetic characters. This, combined with the fact that its just too long, makes it boring and confusing. Seems like it could have been better if shortened and tightened up - without this, it looks like the director doing a bad imitation of himself. In the extras he says he was asked to an autobiographical film at too young an age - maybe he'll do a better one in 20 years...

Long and not much of a story

It's watchable but quite long. I found it quite rambling and without a point.
Not the worst I've seen but not the best either.
