In Agreement

I read the reviews before seeing the movie, confident in Sean Penn's back catalogue to date and to be honest once again Sean himself comes up trumps as Willie Stark in his rise up the political ladder.
Penn's performance in the first 30 minutes alone would nearly make this film worth the watch with his first speech another one of those "hairs on end" pieces of dialogue.
However up steps Jude Law to do his very best to rip apart every piece of positivity that Penn had left all over the scre

Clever screenplay

Interesting movie, which starts off a bit slow but finishes memorably. The louisianna accents were hard to follow so I actually truned subtitles on for this one. Which was useful as the movie is a movie of words one of it's main qualities were small meaningfull soundbites and bits of dialogue/monologue in parts of the movie that were elegant scripted. Some parts of the story were a bit predictable, and some sequences confusing but I thought the full thing came together well.

All-star cast wasted

This film was very disappointing. It staggers along from scene to scene without any very clear plotline. Sean Penn's character (the more interesting) is relegated to the background about halfway through in favour of Jude Law's moping around when the character of Kate Winslet is introduced. The lack of coherency makes you lose interest in what could have been a good drama.
All The Kings Men

Brilliant cast, especially Sean Penn but disappointing film. Hard to understand the dialogue and Jude Law just looks like his character from Road to Perdition which is hard to shake. Storyline is a bit confusing as the plot becomes unravelled, by the end you do not really care much about what happens to the characters.
All The King's Men

I was disappointed as expected much from the splendid cast. The film is an adaptation of the book written back in the 30s. It is definitely not a box office winner. Just for political fiends. Would not recommend.
