5 out of 10 They dont make them like this any more
Anne from Cork, 28 Mar 2011
This was fantastic. I love the old black and white films with real stories and real acting. This is one of the best. Betty Davis was brilliant. There was no special effects. Actors who learned their lines and played the charactors that they were supposed to play and what a lot of lines they had. The story is really good. Wont give it away. The women are women and not demur as we thought for that era . I hate having to give it back as I would watch this again and again. This is one th

5 out of 10 All About Eve
Nessa from Dublin, 25 Apr 2007
Fantastic film about a ruthless protoge, Eve, who stops at nothing to steal her mentor's career, man and friends. Starring Bette Davis, in a standout role, as Margot Channing the fading starlet and Anne Baxter as the scheming Eve, the film won 6 oscars and numerous other awards. Beautifully acted and scripted, it is a fascinating 90 minute tale of ambition, greed and betrayal.

4 out of 10 LIFE'S BUT A WALKING SHADOW..
Cheater from Kerry, 18 May 2009
In a world were fame is the new god and ambition the unrecognised addiction, this movie dating back to the 1950s is a timely reminder that our lust for celebrity stretches. Magnificent performances all round and biting dialogue

5 out of 10 A true Classic
John from Donegal, 27 Feb 2008
Everything about this film is right. The casting, the acting, the dialogue and especially the ending. I'm not surprised it was nominated for 14 oscars. Bette Davis is brilliantly bitchy.

Gawd almighty bore me out the back door of the living room. I was reaching for the razor blades to let myself go from the agony.

What's it about....
Given that she throws tantrums, gets intoxicated, and pushes people away when she needs them the most, it's a wonder New York theater star Margo Channing has any true friends. But when Eve, Margo's young and innocent-seeming protegee, schemes to gain both the affection of Margo's friends and a starring role originally written for Margo, the actress discovers just who is in her corner--and who is not. Released in 1950, ALL ABOUT EVE's power radiates undimmed through the years....
