Different - but not in a good way!

I like the odd foreign language film, and especially enjoy the different take on life as shown by the directors, but Address Unknown just didn't do it for me. It is looks like it was filmed with a couple of hand-held cam, and there seems to have been no budget for sets of FX. Unremittingly bleak

A very bleak film about life in Korea in the 1970's. It seems that every character in the film is undergoing some sort of trauma, with no 'normal' or well-adjusted characters, and so they become unbelievable. Both landscape and characters are unremittingly bleak. This film contains no hope. However, apart from despair and violence, the them is unclear. I often enjoy dark, films, but this film seems to have little other purpose or meaning. And the American actors are very poor.
