4 out of 10 very european feel to it.
Justine from Meath, 01 Apr 2009
if you know what i mean. I loved this movie , a very existential sort of thing, with brilliant attention to details like colour , style, etc, like an art installation or something. then the pace picks up a bit, as jack goes travelling , but its his very ordinary vulnerable flawed character that draws you in, he has a sort of epiphany but what a way to do it. a very sweet film along the lines of other existential european type movies . try it you'll see what i mean.

0.5 out of 10 Forget About Schmidt...
Caroline from Laois, 23 Apr 2008
After seeing As Good As It Gets and loving it and wanting more, I thought this would be good but it was a real drag, Jack not shinning at all and it was waaaaay too long. I didn't think it was funny, maybe a slight chuckle escaped me once or twice but I just kept watching it thinking '...any minute now it'll get going...', but it didn't. Watch it on TV, if you have to see it, but don't waste your money on this or sit by the door waiting on the post!

4 out of 10 Comic genius?
Una from Dublin, 30 Jun 2007
Not quite. But very, very entertaining. Nicholson as Schmidt, a bitter and twisted retired man who hates his wife, hates his daughter's fiance and misses the office is fantastic. While it never gets past a slow trot, it trots along pleasantly, and the letters he sends to his adopted child in Africa are anything but ordinary! Worth a watch anyway. Maybe even more than once!

5 out of 10 When your spoilt daughter marries a Schmuck
Caroline from Dublin, 24 Sep 2010
I liked this film. It was top class. My favourite part was a Fathers quiet dignity at the wedding of his daughter and a right schmuck. To see this proud but sad old man holding back was a great scene. He had his faults and on the roof of a camper acknowledged them. His future son-in-law was hassling him to invest in a Pyramid Scheme.

2 out of 10 About Schmidt
Mary from Kilkenny, 26 May 2008
Being an avid Jack Nicholson fan, I was really looking forward to seeing this; however, I was very disappointed. It is very slow moving, and I mean VERY! Having said that, not a bad study of a praticular type of older man who has just retired and the life that faces him. You'd need to be in a kinda philosophical mood for it though.
