4 out of 10 Helped by being entirely shot on location.
Louis from Dublin, 27 Apr 2008
Captures well the sheer, helpless, misery of a desperate situation. An American journalist kidnapped by initially invisible assailants. Ironically, it brings daily life in Pakistani cities vividly to life: shopping in a supermarket, taking taxis through bustling streets all shot on location. Good, still, performance by Angelina Jolie for most of the film turning into heart-rending cries of pain by the end as she comes to terms with her loss.

4 out of 10 A fitting tribute.
Jennifer from Dublin, 25 Apr 2008
I'm not a fan of Angelina Jolie but this film showed that she can act. Her portrayal of Marianne Pearl was very impressive. The film itself was a fitting tribute to the journalist, Daniel Pearl. It did not glamourize his kidnapping and subsequent execution but showed the turmoil that happens when a loved one goes missing. Definitely one to watch.

3.5 out of 10 Worth a watch
Maggie from Mayo, 13 May 2008
A well made film, portraying the anguish of searching for a loved one, in a society that is very different from our own. Well acted, with Angeline Jolie putting in a surprisingly good performance. DO NOT watch the introductory bonus, as it contains spoilers. This detracts from the tension and suspense of the film.

3 out of 10 Decent.
Ciaran from Dublin, 24 Apr 2008
Jolie gives a fine performance here and that is essential as she is the heart and soul of this wrenching movie. Grim subject matter this may be, but it is handled well and the police investigations make for interesting viewing. All in all I got more out of this than I expected.

3.5 out of 10 Strong perfromance from Jolie
Mark from Dublin, 14 Jun 2008
A very impressive performance by Jolie you can almost pick up on the helplessness of her character in this portrayal of the event surrouding the Pearl kidnapping in Pakistan, thought it showed quite an insight in what went on in Pakistan at the time worth a watch.
