Filming the unfilmable brilliantly
Peter from Dublin, 11 Jan 2009
Don't watch this for the plot. Tristram Shandy is a book in which the author sets out to tell his lifestory but gets so caught up in digressions he takes hundreds of pages to get as far as being born. This is a film about an attempt to make a film of that book. The 18th century characters and the contemporary characters are constantly interrupted and diverted so the story doesn't get anywhere. As you'd expect of Coogan and Brydon, I suppose, it draws on that mockumentary strand we've seen in the

keep looking

Wish I could have left this one off the list. This is truly a badly put together film. It may have had potential on paper but not on the screen. Not what you would imagine from 2 comic actors like Rob and Steve. I watched the whole movie waiting for it to start and then it just ends. What a waste of time. Do your self a favor and keep looking!
Confusing but good

This film certainly won't be for everyone. But if you can follow the interweaving plots (Coogan and Brydon play themselves playing parts in a film, and then the actual characters in the....oh just go with it!) there is lots to enjoy. A good feel for the mechanics and petty politics of a film set too!
A truly, truly, bad film.

This made 'the science of sleep' seem like an action movie! Don't be fooled by the list of names and cameo's, its just a really dull and boring film. Tries to be a bit avante garde but I just ended up wondering what the point was... it maybe more acceptable to actors.
drivel

This is a really dumb movie. Really dumb. It is a very amateur take on the office mockumentary format. Steve Coogan plays himself and has really lost his touch absolutely appalling drivel
